EDIT: now there is a last step with pictures of the Piñata been whacked!

The Birthday Party is getting closer, and you want to have a cool gift wrapping and something to entertain the guests?

PIÑATA for everyone :D !

My husband is a dedicated sea-trout fisherman, so I give him this year a bunch of handmade danish lures, and some more fishing stuff - but he always gets something handmade from me as well - This year it'll be the gift wrapping itself.

First I wanted to make a troutpiñata but found it rather boring, and while watching a documentary about deep sea angler fishes, the idea was born :) ( fascinating creatures!)

I hope someone makes a piñata for me one day - even adults close to 40 (*sigh*) want to play!

I chose to add a lot of layers to the piece, to make it as sturdy as possible without making it impossible to break ;)

this is my first piñata-attempt ( surely not my last - my brother will be so jealous on my husband ;D )

It took me about 5 days to complete it, due the drying time of the paper mache, also I had to plan to work with it while alone at home to keep it secret - so you have to plan ahead.

To entertain the spectators on the party, I came up with a silly blindfold as well :)

I invite you to my journey!

Step 1: Materials Needed

This is awesome! We'll try to make one for our kid's bday party. :)

let us know how it turned out :)
just don't add as many layers as in the instructable - otherwise it will be too sturdy for a kid to destroy :)

You have my vote. I haven't even looked at anything else yet. I'm going to attempt to make this for my brothers next birthday. I will pray and sacrifice fingertips to the craft gods in hopes that it doesn't come out like a pinterest fail.

I want to fill it with fishing lures and candy. But I can see things going terribly wrong if there's beer involved.

thanks for your vote :)
It was really easy to make, so I'm pretty confident you will succeed (unless beer is involved during the making process) - and also I guess no one on the party has actually seen an angler fish closer than on TV - means no one can claim it's anatomically right or wrong ;)
- the fishing lures inside are all without hooks - that makes it a little safer - and you can smash the pinata at an early state of the party to avoid bad injuries -so do I plan... :D
- there will be beer, a huge bonfire, sauna and a hot bath tub down the river - what could possibly go wrong...
I let you all know after the party!
