Step 1: What You'll Need

Picture of What You'll Need

✘ Cardboard Box

I used an old Columbia shoe box, but if you don't have a box of your own that you're willing to cut up, I found these great ones on Amazon for a mere $1,387.12 + tax:

✘ Ruler
Or a tape measure.

✘ Glue
I used Aleene's Original Tacky Glue for this particular project.

✘ Tape
Literally any kind of tape will do - masking, scotch, duct, packing, electrical; whatever the heck you wanna use.

✘ Scissors
If you're really good, you can just use the knife to cut the ribbon, but I prefer scissors.

✘ Knife
A boxcutter works best to get clean edges.

✘ Fine-tip Sharpie
All this is used for is marking measurements, so a pen or pencil will work just as well as (and probably better than) a Sharpie, but I love Sharpie's so I use them for everything :)

✘ Ribbon

The stuff I used is apparently something called grosgrain ribbon (I googled it), which is heavier and stiffer than normal ribbon.

Big thanks to everyone who participated in the I Made It challenge! I've just sent out prize claim PMs to everyone - please let me know if you didn't receive yours. :)

Keep your eyes peeled for more challenges in the future:

Fun and easy, I found some heavy
(Er) tag board from bubble packs
So it would be thinner. My glue of choice was clear Gorilla Glue. Incidentally very strong and easy to dispense. I use the smaller size
With the convenient screw on cap.

This was easy to follow and it worked. Not the first time I have used an instructable and definitely not the last.

I liked this project quite a bit, but didn't have any nice cardboard on hand (or $1,387.12 + tax *note to self- get more pocket change*). So, I fired up TinkerCAD, spent about 5 minutes modeling, and 2.5 hours of printing later I have this spiffy lookin' thing. Glued together with ribbon as per the rest of this 'Ible. I might consider posting the STLs on Thingiverse later if I have time.
The fact that you didn't take out a loan to buy the box shows me that you're lazy and lack commitment, but I guess a 3D printed version will have to suffice. Just kidding! This is amazing! I love what you did here :)

Good Craft. I've loved to making this one and thinking in wasting the less possible of materials because of recycling and wasting thing about world preservation.
Thanks a lot for the all these initiatives of yours, my Instructable mates!

I was using crapes instead glue (I didn't have, we often don't use it here), and some couple of Staples and at the end: a rubber band to keep it closed. Even I can save some bills and others paper thing behind the "money holders".

Great little "evening project"! I used Tape glued together at the sticky sides as Ribbon and it works great!

"..for a mere $1,387.12 + tax"??
m_shannon (author)  Bantman1 month ago
Right?! Who could resist a deal like that?
Much more worth investing in a cardboard box!
