Picture of Milkshake Recipe

I've been really craving a malted milkshake recipe so I thought I would share how easy they are to make. It only takes 3 ingredients (4 if you are making a malt) to make a delicious milkshake in almost any flavor you want. I'll talk about proportions and the many ways you can add variation to your milkshake or malted milkshake.

Step 1: Ingredients

Picture of Ingredients

This is kind of a rough start but really the proportions are all up to you. Want it thicker, more ice cream. Want it thinner, more milk. Want the flavor stronger, add in more syrup. It really is as simple as that.

Also, this should make a single serving (about 10oz) or two small servings. Increase for however many people you want to serve.

  • 3-4 scoops Ice Cream - I know that scoops are all relative, but it really is just an estimate
  • 1/2c Milk - I like it a bit thicker so I usually use more like 1/4c milk
  • 3T Chocolate Syrup or whatever flavoring you want
  • 2T Malted Milk Powder (optional for a malt) - usually just 1T is enough, but you can reasonably go up to 2T for a single serving - you can get this in different flavors but buying Vanilla is safe to use with most flavors whereas Chocolate is really only good for chocolate flavors
  • Whipped topping (optional)

  • Blender - a blender is nice for this as you get nice smooth results and it will break down any additional add-ins - a hand mixer can also be used but this won't blend up things like cookies or candy well
  • Milkshake Cups - these are just nice to have if you can get them, I actually got the sundae cups you see in this Instructable at a thrift store or just 50cents each! not perfect, but nice to use
  • Straw - I recommend reusable plastic straws or paper straws
Thank you! I'm gonna try this. Lovely presentation; I love it!
Thank you so much!

Ooh...looks nice! Great pictures!
I have even heard of a Fruity Pebbles milk shake, and I might give that a try! I will post an Instructable on it if it works out.
