How do I save your instructions?
This is great!

How do you create the dome in the one lip balm container?
Auroris (author)  Penolopy Bulnick2 months ago
Hi! Thanks for the question.

Screw together: the 1. Top part and the 2.Middle part. Pour the melted lip balm through the grate and into the lid of the container in order to allow the balm to take shape of the container (so you are pouring from inner side).
Allow it to cool. After setting, take the 3.Bottom part and snap the bottom of the container firmly to put the pieces back together.
Twist open the container as usual and your lip-balm should be good as new with perfect dome!

I hope this explanations are more clearly and it's easy to repeat ;)
Ooooh! The bottom and tops of those things look so similar, I got ya now :)

Is there any way to make a lip balm that protects the lips from the UV light?
Auroris (author)  Hackobo3 months ago
Thanks for the question. I looked up about this topic and I found the next information:
Shea Butter – approx. SPF 5-6
Coconut Oil – approx. SPF 6-10
Avocado Oil – approx. SPF 4-8
Beeswax – approx. SPF 15
Carrot Seed Essential Oil – approx. SPF 28-40
I can't say that is true and verified information, but our recipe has a pretty good SPF combination ;)

Where do I get the containers to make that egg-shaped lip balm? Do the containers have a special name?
Auroris (author)  chuckr443 months ago
I used old lip balm containers from EOS brand.
You can find a lot of models & colors on There's a whole category of Refillable Bottles. Search by ball, sphere or egg balm container.
I don't know if you are familiar with this site, but I ordered a lot of crafting supplies from there.
I hope I have helped you.
This is such a great idea! When the lip-balm sets in the tube, does it wind out easily once it sets, or can it get a bit stuck to the sides of the tube?
Auroris (author)  Italiankiwiblog3 months ago
You will be surprised, it will be looking exactly like new!
I suppose that lip balm in tubes are manufactured using the same method. Just twist to the end and fill to the top with balm.
Good luck :)

I believe 15 gm of coconut oil should be 6 teaspoons or 2 tablespoons, not two teaspoons.
Auroris (author)  Daisytikityke3 months ago
I took 2 teaspoons full of solid coconut oil (Step 4, 2nd photo) But if your coconut oil is already melted, you should use 6 teaspoons.

Do you know if this would melt in a pants pocket?? I bought an all natural lip balm and it ended up melting in my pocket. Just curious if your recipe would be better. Thanks for sharing!!

In summer you could increase the wax content, and in winter, if you keep one in the car, make it with less wax.
If you don't like the consistency you end up with, you can always melt it again, and add more wax or oil.

Oh, thanks! Such a clever remark. I will make a test and i will share my conclusions.
Auroris (author)  Auroris3 months ago
Melting test
I cut a chunk of lip balm and held it in my hand
for 20 min. After, I squashed the balm and hold for another 10 minutes.
Looks like it past that test very well, just moisturized the palm of
your hand.

May be some organic balms can melt in contact to your
body because it is not used wax in their composition. There are some
recipes with only oils or fat. They a also good, but I think you have to
keep/to sell your balm in a a small lip balm jars/pots. It gives a
chance not to melt in your pocket or bag :)

Thanks for taking the time to do that. I am going to try this out. Thanks again for sharing!!
