I was always a fan of the Addams Family, as a little girl I remember watching the TV series and movies with my family. And so recently as I was thinking about getting rid of an old lamp I no longer needed & then I thought why not make it into something cool and so here is how I made the Uncle Fester Lamp.

Tools & materials used in this project:

  • Lamp
  • Halloween skull
  • double sided foam tape
  • 2 x 3Mx20mm bolts + nuts
  • hot glue
  • clay
  • sponge
  • acrylic paint
  • black eye shadow
  • hobby and craft sealer
  • wire cutters
  • screwdriver
  • soldering iron
  • heat shrink sleeve
  • drill
  • sculpting tools

Step 1: Lamp Disassembly

First of all I needed to remove the lamp shade, so I started by disassembling the switch and cutting the neutral wire. After that I took apart the base so that I could unscrew the lamp shade and pull out the wire attached to the socket.

This is so strange and I love it :D

This is a perfect project! I love how you took an iconicly weird movie idea and turned it into functional art! (Functional art is my favorite art). Your sculpture is fantastic and your execution flawless. Great work!

Amazing! Really well done! Of course, I'm thinking that you could have the eyes glow with the bulb turned off to make a night light... that would be fun to wake up to in the middle of the night!

Thank you very much. I guess I could still paint the whites of his eyes with some fluorescent paint, it might just be enough for the eyes to light up at night ;)

At first I thought you bought the Uncle Fester Head and just stuck a lamp in its mouth. Watching the video really made me appreciate the artistry of how you created the sculpture and then enhanced it with paint. Really well done! If I might suggest it might look really cool to use an incandescent squirrel cage bulb to give it that creepy retro look. And if it was possible to have the bulb auto-dim on a cycle it would really be cool.
